What's wrong with saying I hope you're well in work emails

I opened this article thinking “I don’t agree with this, I think it’s nice to ask the person how they are before diving in. It’s etiquette. And although I wouldn’t do it in France, I’ve learned to do here.” But the article goes further than the title and actually I think I will stop using that sentence!
