This felt like such a refreshing example of a different kind of capitalism. I really admire what he’s built, and I love his ethos around simplicity and doing less with more. It’s so easy to lose sight of that these days.
I did, however, pick up on a strong thread of self-reliance and individual accountability (which I appreciate) but it also came across with a slight “non-team player” vibe. Not sure if that was just my mood when I was listening, but I’ve always believed in the collective more than the individual. We can hold ourselves accountable and still work together. It felt unusual to hear someone who has dedicated his life to a cause speak with so little reference to teamwork. Did anyone else feel that?
And then there was this line I actually loved: “F* Mars, save our own planet.”
It’s something I often think about too.
Does anyone have a good grasp on (or a great article/podcast that explains) the whole Mars/space-race narrative? I have this vague idea that Mars might be a resource that could somehow help us here on Earth, but I’m not sure where that assumption comes from. Would love to understand what I might be missing.
