Benjamin's Share: China is run by engineers. America is run by lawyers.

From Benjamin: In a very first principles way, it asked me to reconsider what we want from the world (at least politically) and to work backwards on how we achieve that.

Haven't listened to this podcast but I've heard him on another podcast explaining this.
Very interesting and we in the west could learn alot from the way China go about developing there country.

Totally agree! After listening I’ve noticed so many legal firm ads. Not sure if we can practically do anything though, it seems deeply structural :(

Thank you so much for sharing such an interesting and informative podcast Benjamin! The analogy of the anaconda in the chandelier - and people self- censuring out of fear that the anaconda will wake up and come and strangle you really stuck with me!
I loved hearing about the premise of his book: a « playful new framework » which gives Americans a better understanding of China by trying to find communalities between both countries rather than the eternal theme of « them vs us » (socialism vs capitalism etc) narrative..
This new lens to understand the two superpowers was fascinating to me.
