Anita's Share: The Moral Problem of Monstrous Artists

I liked this podcast as it deals with a dilemma I’ve been having myself and presents three different viewpoints. Listening to the speakers allowed me to examine my own feelings about whether art can stand alone in isolation from what we know about the artist and reach a more nuanced position.

Thanks for a thought-provoking podcast. This is a great discussion about a perennial issue that seems more poignant than ever in our social media age. Of course there are limits to ethical and moral behaviour, but part of me thinks you could dig deep into anyone’s life and find flaws, so why do we treat artists differently, why can’t we separate the artist from the art? We don’t hold creators of digital platforms or creators of automobiles or creators of government legislation to the same high standards, why is art different?
