The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race

I came across this short article during a thought-provoking conversation hosted by The Ethics Centre shared by an Indigenous participant. It explores a complex legal case in the US and makes a bold claim: the way to stop racial discrimination is to stop considering race altogether. Now that made me think again...

What struck me most wasn’t just the article’s argument but who shared it, and the context in which it was shared. It was a reminder that perspectives on race, equity, and justice don’t always follow the lines we might expect. That people directly impacted by structural inequality can still question the tools we use to fix it. And that real dialogue happens when we sit with those tensions rather than rushing to resolve them.
