Masculinity debate

In this episode of The Diary of a CEO, Scott Galloway and Logan Ury speak thoughtfully and compassionately about a topic many seem afraid to touch: the struggles of modern men. What I appreciated most was how deeply nuanced the conversation was. They celebrated the hard-won progress for women, while also expressing real empathy for young men who are feeling lost, lonely, and left behind.

Logan said something that stuck with me: “I feel like people are afraid to talk about this topic because they think it’s a zero-sum game, where when men lose, women win, and vice versa. But right now, we’re all losing.”

That line has stayed with me. Because it’s true. There’s a tension we often miss: in trying to right historical wrongs, we can sometimes overlook those who are quietly struggling today. Galloway and Ury handle this with care, without ever diminishing the importance of continued gender equity.

There’s so much more I could say, but I’ll leave it here. If you're sceptical, try it and let me know what you think. I found the argument quite enlightening and hard to fault. But would love to be told otherwise!

A brilliant share, thank you Jeanne! The conversation was nuanced and handled quite a complex theme well. Loved the sentiment that we're all getting there together - and it was interesting to hear the perspective that polarisation and division between genders is being enhanced for men (internet silos) and women (unrealistic expectations and rom coms!) alike! Really enjoyed this listen.
