From Lydia: This podcast was really interesting - Brené Brown of course spoke about vulnerability at length and the necessity in work situations, personal situations, and just how you view life - but also how this interplays with society’s focus on profitability, efficiency, technological improvement ie AI. She gave an example of how tech leaders are suggesting that other people study engineering, coding, science, but for their own children they recommend the humanities – philosophy, history and art. She stressed the importance of critical thinking, understanding how societies work. I completely agree and worry that through efficiencies and optimisation we lose the grit, perspective and complexities of being human.

Absolutely love this article thank you for sharing it Lydia. The 3 quotes I actually wrote down:
« People in power use power to address issues that they’re afraid of. They gain power by leveraging fear and giving people an enemy. »
« I want my kids to own their mind, own their intellect, own their attention, own their focus. I want them to hold the tension of nuance and paradox when everything in their brains is saying « pick one! Pick one! I’m uncomfortable »
« There is safety in picking a side »
