From Dan: In this episode rather than making me think again the episode really brought together ideas I’ve been thinking about.
Like me, when elections roll around whether it be federal or local, do you often feel like the politicians aren’t speaking or understanding your problems, sometimes I feel like we’re living in different worlds?
When you turn the news on in the lead up to an election any parties or any politicians outside the mainstream whether they be left or right are considered ‘extreme’ but sometimes you find maybe you can connect with these people on some topics.
(Which is another topic in itself regarding the media)
But David breaks it down very well in this episodes to maybe let us think different about what is radical/extreme/conservative in a totally different light.

I thought this was absolutely fascinating! thank you so much for sharing, Dan. I’ve often noticed a gap between what politicians say and what everyday people actually think and talk about, but seeing it backed by research was really interesting. I also hadn’t thought about things in the way they articulate here; namely this idea that the real “radical” politics today isn’t necessarily at the fringes, it’s in the so-called centre, because many politicians have drifted far from the cultural attitudes of the people they claim to represent. I partiucalrly appreciated the comparisons between countries and the possible mechanisms behind the political turmoil we’re experiencing right now. I usually steer clear of political podcasts, but this one didn’t feel like…
