Bella's Share: David Leser asks good questions

From Bella: This beautiful conversation with David Leser feels like The Conversation we all need to be having. It makes me want to quit my job and either (1) pack up my family and move us to a farm where we can be self-sufficient and spend our days immersed in nature hiding from the reality of the broken outside world or (2) figure out what more I can do about our broken world. It also reminds me of The Overstory by Richard Powers which I shared in my Member Highlight a little while ago - which I must again urge everyone to read.

💬 A quick note: replies can be easy to miss here, so feel free to add a new comment rather than replying directly. This isn’t a fast-fire space, it’s intentionally slower, and shaped for thoughtful engagement with the ideas themselves, rather than back-and-forth responses.

'When you are brave you can be gentle with anyone' will stick with me for a while, and reminds me of the Taylor Swift lyric: 'Never be so kind you forget to be clever, never be so clever you forget to be kind'.

A fantastic read Bella, I am always in awe of people who take up work that requires them to stare the brutal facts and hard truths of the world in the face, day in and day out, and yet maintain the ability to be thoughtful and open and eloquent towards the rest of us, who generally don't delve as deeply as they do. I am very keen to read his books, thank you for the share 🙏

Absolutely fascinating article ! Hands down one of the best reads I’ve read in a long time!

That personal story around his cousin being a Trump supporter and all the self reflection of how he could’ve navigated the conversation better made me smile as it’s EXACTLY the spirit of TTA. I think / hope we get David on board as he clearly is one of us 🥰
