The beautiful Bec shared this episode in her application to become a member a couple of weeks ago!
Her thoughts on this episode: "I know The Imperfects is not a very unique suggestion, but this discussion around the importance of hope, the critical difference between hope and optimism and how we need to resist slipping into a cynical mindset (especially tough at the current moment!) was positively illuminating."

I’ll be honest, at first I wasn’t sold… but wow, was I wrong. Here are a few of the most thought-provoking moments:“When we lose hope, progress stops.”
Dr Emily shares that her intention in writing the book was to reinstall hope, because without it, change stalls. She draws a powerful distinction between optimism and hope. Optimism is the belief that a good outcome will happen; hope is the belief that it could. She quotes environmental thinker David Orr: “Hope is a verb with its sleeves rolled up. Hopeful people are actively engaged in defying the odds or changing the odds. Optimism leans back, puts its feet up, and wears a confident look.”
Dr Emily also references the work of Dr Jamil…
