From Sas: This was a podcast that made me think again. I was generally of the belief that generative A.I. is overhyped - that big tech is overstating AI’s potential so it can generate more money and, because generative AI hallucinates, we as humans are more-or-less protected from its ultimate potential. This interview with the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amadei, made me think again. He highlighted that many A.I. companies are corruptly paying policy makers not to regulate the industry; that generative A.I. will replace entry-level white collar jobs in law, finance and consulting; and that the models are already generating nefarious actions which companies are trying to control behind the scenes.
In general, this is a great podcast called Radical with a British BBC journalist, Amol Rajan - he speaks too quickly but he is very smart and even-handed.

Interestingly enough, I’ve listened to this and enjoyed it for different reasons to Sas. I liked that Dario was equally excited and concerned. I thought that the summary at the end was a very biased assessment of the discussion, focusing on all the doom and gloom and negative stuff when the actual first 20 minutes are about its potential. I think a critical learning from the guest was that it doesn’t need to be black or white and that acknowledging the positives doesn’t necessarily mean that you aren’t willing and committed to fixing the risks. Thank you again for sharing Sas!
