An Era of Stagnation & Universal Institutional Failure, with Peter Thiel

I was warned that sharing a conversation with Peter Thiel might rub people the wrong way, because he is a controversial figure... I personally had never heard him speak and did choose a talk from six years ago so as not to be biased by more recent events. I was pleasantly surprised and found this conversation actually very interesting. It touches on many topics and I enjoyed that the host and guest didn’t agree on everything but were open enough to progress the conversation regardless.
One thing they speak about is political correctness, which is something I talk about a lot too!! Thiel explains that people come up to him saying « thank you for saying things I can’t say at work » I find this quite worrisome; because as Thiel puts it « if you can’t talk about something, you can’t solve it ». How do others feel about that? It’s a great conversation starter if anyone is feeling inspired?!
People in this group might have strong views on Thiel but everything he says here (granted he might have said things since then to upset people) seemed very reasonable and made me rethink/think again quite a few things around education, violence, transparency, the role of governement etc… hope you enjoy it! Let me know your thoughts (even if you hate it!)
