Aristotle on what is an educated mind

I came across this short video on Instagram and thought it was exactly in the spirit of TTA so sharing it here. Thank you to this young man, Mediwaraa for sharing/posting this.

"Aristotle said that only an educated mind can understand a thought different from its own without having to accept it. This sentence contains the very essence of true wisdom.

To understand without becoming attached, to listen without reacting impulsively, to engage in dialogue without imposing, this is the mark of a mature mind. It does not feel threatened by differing ideas; it observes, questions, reflects, and, if necessary, lets them pass.

For it is not agreement that defines intelligence, but the ability to coexist with contradiction.

At a time when opinions have become trenches, tolerating the thoughts of others is an act of greatness. As Voltaire wrote, “I may disagree with every word you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

This is where wisdom distinguishes itself from pride: when we choose to learn from others rather than defeat them. A narrow mind needs to win debates; a wise mind seeks to understand the world."
